Hi, i have a 01 Blaster with some problems, bike has low hours.
I dont have much experience but i want to learn and make my bike last.
Bike is blowing white smoke.
Engine bogs out sometimes when opened up.
Drain plug is snapped and torn up inside crank case.
Bike will shut off after a cold start with choke on or off.
Im thankful for any advice.
Thanks Rob.

First 2 things I would do is a leak test and compression test.

What kind of smoke? It's a two stroke so they do smoke a bit. It could be a leaky seal on clutch side. Leak test will determine that.

As far as the plug. I would release a few bolts on the bottom of the clutch cover and drain fluid first. It will make a mess I'm sure. Stand bike up. I would try using a left hand bit about 2/3 the size of the bolt. You have to run the drill in reverse. It will start to drill into the bolt and hopefully start to back it out once it catches. Just be careful not to let bit jump around. The cases are aluminum.

Thanks! I will check for compression and leaks.
The smoke is thick and white, i assumed the oils needed changing.
Unfortunately i chewed the bolt up while trying the technique you mentioned.. pieces may be up and inside.
Is the crank case easy to dismantle and clean out?

It can be tricky if not mechanically inclined. The clutch area and crank are in two separate housings. I would pull the cover and inspect.

Clymers Repair Manual has lots of general repair tips, not just how to wrench on a Blaster.

So, did you drill all the way through the drain plug?

I didn't get through the drain plug, plug has been shredded.
Ordered the Haynes manual which im hoping will help out.

Should have gotten a Clymers. Have never seen anyone recomend a Haynes.

If the engine is still in frame stand that puppy up on it's tail so you can work on that drain plug. Make sure gas is OFF
Good thing you didn't drill all the way through that plug.
Can you get an easyout to bite in the plug? Heat the area around the plug several times.
Or get a small cold chisel and hammer and gently walk the plug out. (after heating cycles)

FYI : For you and any that might be following this thread, when you have a situation such as this, welding a nut to the bottom of the plug might be the best first option if the plug is boogered. In fact if there is still something to weld to it might be your best "next" option. Or even sticking a bolt into drilled hole and weld.

FYI #2 : When welding on anything with electricals have ground as close to weld as possible. Disconnect stator, coil, cdi, volt reg. BEFORE WELDING!! Might do well to remove gas tank and carb before welding, don't want to make an ash of yourself. I can give examples of common sense, but nobody can teach it.

On a car, best you can do is disco batt, maybe ecu. ground close.
