port timing is hella easy. all you do is print a free degree wheel off the net.glue it to a hard backing like cardboard. then u just set the piston a bottom dead center using a caliper or even just a tape measure.remove the fly wheel cover and put one of the bolts in. get a stiff piece of wire and wrap it around the bolt to use as a pointer/ marker on the degree wheel. glu the degree wheel w bdc or 180 close to ur pointer. make sore to ce4nter it .i use a nail thru it to dead center it on the crank.now bend the pointer wire so it lines up perfect w the bdc mark. now rotate the flywheel to tdc or 0. put a flashlight in the exhaust roll the flywheel till the piston barely starts to un cover the exhaust port . record the degree mark then rotate it all the way down and back up untill it in the same spot record this mark. now subtract the first mark form the second and u have port timing!
hey what do you use to weld up all your aluminum stater covers and etc... do you think a stick welder and aluminum rods from harbor freight like what civicsdude uses on cases would work?
