yet another blaster with no spark

I know this is the most asked question and I've done tests....

heres the rundown.....NO SPARK
blaster ran fine after a fresh carb rebuild with the exception of idle probs.....
I ran it for about 30 minutes then just died (someone inexperienced with clutch riding) And wouldn't kick over

I started in at it with the ohm meter and traced the pulser/pickup coil reading low. I replaced it and got the exact same reading....then did some research and saw someone with same problem and a yamaha tech said the reading was right. Also I checked a running blaster and got the same readings again.
So I ruled that out

I've checked everything I see to check in the yamaha manual and it was fine.........I then replaced the cdi and still no spark. Brand new plug.

Any Ideas at all???? I almost ready to sell the damn thing

make sure all your wiring is hooked up / not frayed or damaged, sounds stupid but alot times it's the most obvious...

I did a continuity test from lead to lead on the main wires like the ground and all of the wires dealing with the ignition; coil, stator, ground and so on everything checked good there too.

So state again... Have you tested everything according to the service manual? What are you testing that you think is out of spec. Have you messed with the wiring under the fron cover/hood recently?

yes I have tested everything acording to the manual. The pulser coil is the thing testing low....(I replaced it and tested another blaster to confirm the reading was the same)

I did mess with the wires under the hood, I changed the cdi box, all the wires are color coded. Also the main key is missing and has been since I bought it. Its always ran though. My understanding of the kill and main switch is that they are considered to be ON and RUN position when there is no continuity in the wires (so unplug them to disrupt the continuity) The run switch is active and tested fine the main key is unpluged hence not having continuity which should in turn mean the switch is on.

check to make sure you did not hook the black and white wire on the cdi to the black and whit wire to the key switch. The black and white wire should be hooked directly to where the main harness comes up from the back of the bike. I have seen people do this more than once.

all the wires going to the cdi come out of the same part of the harness, and the two to the key out of diff part of the harness. So, thats ok but thanks.

ANY other ideas I'll check anything

all i can think of is what you have allready done. i could be thinking too hard though...

since all else has failed... check your plug... was it fouled and you didn't notice it, and it dried off for the most part? if so.. the plug is dead --
get a new plug and make sure its gapped correctly, and check your jetting

pretty sure the plug was brand new....I'll try another though..

I posted in the othe thread too. that I think it may be a grounding issue. try and scrape off the paint where you round wires connect to the frame

I'm not real sure where they connect to ground. I did hook one end of my multimeter to the ground going into the cdi and the other onto the frame and got continuity....so I know it was grounded.

Do all wires have a common ground point?

no they do not have a common ground. a few do though share a common ground I would have too look them up to tell you which ones though sorry Im not around my clymer manual but I think there is one stickied here somewhere.
