cast pistons are sh!t.......

either your ring locator pin fell out and the ring gap got into a port and caught or you have too much cylinder to piston clearance or your ports weren't properly champfered right and the ring caugt on a port and snagged.

also cast pistons aren't the best but that doesn't look like a piston problem looks like an assembley or machine work problem to me.

then that is a piston problem. i would write a nasty email and buy a weisco next time. is 30 bux really that big of a deal when it comes to a good runnin machine

I would still have it measured to make sure man. don't want another failure. then buy your piston if it doens't need a bore.

thats what happens when u buy garbage.... sh*t sux man. i hate to see sh*t like that, see if it can be honed before its bored, how deep is the gash? probably going to need to be bored.

IF the bore is near perfect , you could treat it as extra large champher. Considering that the only added cost is 60-80 for boreing, that might be the best option.
Be sure that the ports are champhered good before you put it together, use new pin c-clips, be sure bottom end is clean.
