wtf:(

ok... I am curious as to what caused this now. you rebuilt the top end recently right. did you have it bored or honed or anything or did you just slap a new piston in without doing anything. I guess the port and pollish you are talking about is a bore and hone in you sig. if you did have it done why didn't you know what it costs? I am so lost on this story and do you have any pics of the cylinder. I want to see the intake ports from the inside

ill get ya pics...ok here is the story i bought the bike from a faimly freind in peices the motor was completly taken apart to the trany....i got for 300. he said it was ported and polished he had a new wiseco piston and new power reeds. we got the bike together once it ran fine. except 4th gear would not engage so back down to the trany everything looked fine in there and we just bent down the little thing that spins the shift star and it worked fine hit all 6 gears put the motor back in i didnt have an exoust gaskit. i put the pipe on anyways just so it was there yeah no somthin to do lol i started it and it sounded good besides this really slight knocking i killed the motor and i had my dad come listen to it he couldnt hear it... i killed it and it locked up it unlocked itself and started right up but then there was a loud noise so i killed it admediatly and it locked up. i thought maybe a backfire seince there was no exoust but nope it was the piston idk how it did that but ill have pics of the jug in a few hours so does that inlighten u at all ??

yeah. sounds like the guy who bored it didn't camfer the ports. what that means is they round off the edges of the ports so that the rings don't snag as they pass by. if they don't chamfer your piston is a perfect example of what happens. you just need a new piston, bore (which is when they cut the cylinder walls) Hone (which is done to create a cross hatch patter on the jug and bring it to the final bore size) and chamfer. the cross hatch patter made by honing is to help the rings wear to the exact shape or the bore for optimal compression. Ken oconnor is a great machinist and does top notch work. you should send your jug off to him to have it done.

yeah he has some posts on the "weight" tread in this (engine) section. send him a pm he also has a website kenoconnorracing.com. he is doing a jug ported for my stroker right now. he even has sent me pics along the way so i could see the progress.

ok well i dont have that kinda money lol its gunna cost me 200+ to get that fixed... i only bought the bike for 300 so does anyone have a jug for sale?? i really would like to have the bike ridable in the next few weeks if u do shoot me a price and ill see what i can scrap up thanks alot for the help thanks ken for givin me a qoute and if i had the extra money iwould defently send it out lol

A used cylinder would still possibly need a bore and hone. If its just $60 to get it bored and honed, its well worth it. Get a Wiseco piston. what are the last four numbers on the top of your piston? its in the middle of it. Remember to get pics off the entire cylinder inside and out. also get a picture inside where the reeds sit (intake ports).
