i have little or no response with the air screw adjustment, would this be because of worn reeds? i set the air screw at 2 turns out, then when it is warmed up i try to adjust it but i dont get any noticable engine rpm changes just by listening. if i turn it all the way down it cuts it off so i know its doing somthing. i have heard people say to turn it out two turns, then in the hayes book it says one and a half turns out so i dont know.

you want your air screw at 1 1/2 turns out and check your idle screw on top of the tors system to make sure it is set at the right rpm for idle since the sir screw works only with the pilot jet for the o to 1/4 throttle position. unless you change your pilot jet you really don't need your sir screw much past 1 1/2 turns out.

i dont have the tors anymore and i just adjust the idle with the throttle cable adjuster on top of the carb cap. i just rebuilt the whole motor bottom and top end. i bought it with the cylinder off and it was sitting outside with water in the bottom of the crankcase, new crankshaft new piston one size over. i had to buy a carb from some one else cause it didnt come with one. it didnt come with a airbox lid either. it had a 240 jet in it so i just rode easy for this reason, and that i was breaking the top end in too. i put a 260 jet in it and now the tip of the exhaust is slightly wet so maybe a 250.
