I have just upgraded the motor & now it wont start
fitted boysen reeds to standard cage & reed spacer 5mm inbetween reed cage & barrel
Pro circuit complete exhaust
oko 30mm carby with 40 slow jet 165 main jet
finer filter dual air filter

The bike kicks over and sounds like it wants to start
Has spark also tried several new plugs
You help would be greatly appreciated as my daughter is racing mx this weekend

Cheers Steve

any other engine mods besides the reeds and spacer? ive heard of people running into problems with bigger carbs if the engine does not have the mods to support it. are the plugs soakin freekin wet when you take them out?

yes the plug is wet if jets are wrong could you recomend another starting size
i have pilots upto 45
how small would you go for main

well i have a diffrent carb but i think the jets are close in #s.
i have a 155 main and 52 pilot. the 155 is even a bit rich try ur 45 and like a 148 and see what happens.

Thanks for all your help as soon as i get home from work only 7hrs to go ill change the carby
& let you know how it goes
Cheers Steve I:I

tried jets 45 idle 150 main still made no change so i now am checking rings and the case seal in behind the ignition
have been over carby re-checked reed gaskets are sealing
if you can think of anything else i should look at let me know

Cheers Steve

has it fired at all? are you getting spark? new plug, clean filter, check compression, premix new gas, those things done? make sure when u pulled the carb apart the float was adjusted properly. cause once i bent mine and didnt notice and no gas would go into the bowl at all..

No it hasnt fired at all
There is heaps of spark and have tried different plugs b8egv & iridiums as well
fuel was fresh 98octane with motul5800 oil mixed at 33/1
the float level seems to be i have a clear bowel so i can see the fuel brand new air filter fitted
i didnt check compression (not bright i know) b4 i pulled head barrel off but ring gap is between 10-20 thou
am going to put new rings in now that 9 have it stripped down this far
is still on standard bore with very few marks in bore a quick hone should be fine

Ok guys have put new rings in & all gaskets
tried both new carby and original carby still no luck
if cdi is nfg how can i check i think its electrical now
have rechecked spark has spark but isnt bright blue seems a bit low in the spark department
is this the coil causing this or ignition
?????????????

the problem has been fixed
Probably all my fault when i dis connected the tors i removed the micro switch out of the throttle ass as per instructions not realising this must be bridged or motor will never start
when i bridged these wires quad started first kick
All i have to do now is fine tune carby
thanks to all that helped
Cheers Steve & Heather
