originally, my 01 blaster was having issues staying running. turns out the compression was weak and the cylinder walls werent smooth. its currently getting bored 20 over and a new piston kit to fit it. i was just wondering if this will make a noticeable difference in power?

NOPE!!!~~~~~~~~~~~

Boreing out and getting a new piston will bring it back to where it was before it lost compression. Power adder would be port work or better pipe, ect.

Your not going to notice a thing. If you want HP gains, then you can get:
- upgraded exhaust
- shaved cylinder head (more compression)
- porting
- Longer Crankshaft
- Big Bore Kit

Agreed with what has been givin.
The only way you would notice is if you bore it over several millimeters.
You don't want to do that unless it's needed because you will literally take off years of fun off the cylinder in the hunt for a few HP- it's not worth it.

I thought getting a new piston, like a Wiseco, helped performance due to the piston design? When I rebuilt mine with the Wiseco, it felt AWESOME. I can't think it was all just my F7 pipes :P

Sure the pipe helped big time as well as your motor was probably tired and low on compression. The wiseco is a great piston but it aint going to give you a wow factor but it will help keep you from killing your cases from a cast piston that comes apart.

Fitting a new piston and rings will undoubtedly raise compression and make the pipe do its job.

The advantage of the Wiesco piston is that it is forged and will stand up to the rigors of recriprocation far better than a cast one.

thanks. i do have a paul turner performance exhaust system on it now. the next thing im gonna do is either vf3's or boyesen reeds and get better jets for the carb because i dont know if its been done or not.. what size jets would you guys recommend?

A full list of mods would be nice to know so one can offer some advice.

Make sure you are in the ballpark before you start the motor, then do plug chops to get jetting spot on.

what do u mean by in the ballpark?

and the only engine mods that i know of are the paul turner exhaust, uni air filter and that its gettin bored 20 over right now. the rest are just physical enhancements like nerf bars and stuff.

ive been riding with it on, but after looking into it on this site in gonna try riding with it off. it also has a oil injection block off kit and i mix 32:1. i dont know if the tors has been removed but when i get the atv back from the shop im gonna check and remove it if its still there.

im pretty sure its the stock carb too

Guys here can only give you a close estimate on what jet to choose, usually on the rich side (safe side ) depending on the list of mods you furnish.

Final jetting is arrived at by doing plug chops, as temperature, float level, :)elevation ect can alter the jetting requirements.
