So I've had my quad together for a couple weeks already, but the weather was crap, I was busy etc.
This weekend we headed out to the mountains to camp/ride etc. Weather held out pretty good, did LOTS of riding in the AWESOME Crowsnest Pass area.

I hadn't done a proper plug chop yet, as I really hadn't ridden it yet since the break-in. I fired it up, let it get good and warm and took it for a rip. Well, I tried to anyway. It sputtered and coughed and just plain wouldn't rev at all. I was at approx 4000 ft and had a 152 main in the 34mm PJ. I dropped it down to a 148 (next size down) and dropped the needle to the 2nd clip and tried again. WOW!!! Plug chop came out on the rich side still, but I'm going to leave it where it is for now.

So how does it run? It's really amazing that it's still just a 195cc small bore, stock stroke, old school 2 stroke. It comes on pretty strong at VERY low rpm, and then has a great hit in the mid-range that pulls strong at LEAST 1k rpm higher than it used to. Keep in mind that I run the same pipe as before, and the DMC's aren't really known to be all that great apparently.

I use the clutch now much less than before. I just don't have to. The motor has so much more grunt down low and revs out so much farther that I don't even shift as much. Hills that used to be 2nd gear clutch-fanners are now done in 3rd gear with the front wheels in the air!

Before, when I'd fan the clutch to keep the revs up on a long climb, it would maintain RPM, but that's it. Now it hits and PULLS. It's actually a challenge to keep the front wheels down on big hills even with a +4 swing arm. 3rd gear power wheelies just need a bit of a tug on the bars and a quick goose on the gas.

Oh yeah, it even SOUNDS meaner B)

Really, can't say enough about the performance of the build. I asked for a hard hitting trail motor. I explained that most of my experience (years ago of course) was on 125 mx bikes and I knew how to ride and use a clutch. Brandon built EXACTLY what I asked for. Customer service was great, price was more than fair. It flat out rocks.

Thanks again Brandon!I:II:I

PS: I was riding with two friends. One on piped Shee, the other on an Outlaw 525. The Blaster is still slower than both, but that's ok. It's a better trail motor than the Shee, and cheaper to overhaul and maintain than the Outlaw. :D:D
