Could be alot of different things.
Bent shift shaft (the shaft your shifter is bolted to)
Shift forks worn or bent inside the trans.
Or a simple adjustment on the shift pawl on the shift star.

are those things to difficult to diagnose and fix myself?

If you have a Clymers no.
The only thing you would have to split the case to fix would be the forks.
Obviously check the other stuff first :D

Is it when you try to downshift a few gears at a time? If it is you might wanna try changing your transmission oil if it isn't new, when it is in there a while I notice on mine that downshifting isn't as smooth anymore, but fresh oil clears it up.

yea i just put fresh oil in when i did my rebuild. i went to yamaha and got what there computer said to put in it.

yea my old blaster used to do that like it was hard to get down into 1st again and u would be in 2nd and try to take off and it would almost die

I dunno, thats sort of a strange problem to appear without doing anything to the bottom end. Can you be more specific though?

When you downshift is there more resistance than there was before? or does the shift lever seem "sticky"? Is it worse or better when the engine warms up?

it stays the same even when the engine is warmed up. if i pull my clutch and start shifting that instant i can make it down all the gears. if i pull the clutch and roll for a lil bit the it wont shift down.

Re: weird downshift problem?

Sound like you have a sticky clutch so just ride and use the clutch as much as you can to loosen it up like when you down shift every gear let go of the clutch in every gear just to make sure it hooked into gear. or your clutch cable is to tight the lever should have a 1/4 play.

If it's an older model, a loose shift drum screw could be the culprit. That would allow it to downshift while the clutch is pulled but wouldn't allow it to while backloaded.
