Why you can't always tell good porting by looking

I see from time to time pics on here of various motors and porting. The single most kind of porting pic on here is of the intake- or what I call the glamor port.
Why? because you really can't tell porting at all by looking at the intake besides it 'looks' like a good job.
Heres examples:

For comparison purposes obviously the left one has been worked with big old windows, a nice angle on the divider and has added ports drilled into it.
The one on the right is down right ugly, the divider is like hitting a brick wall, the surface is butt f'in rough and the windows are small and square edged.

Here's the kicker the one on the left makes 33hp and the one on the right 45hp out of the box :o
 
cant tell which would make more HP by looking at an intake. if that stock one on the right has the transfers and exhaust ports worked over the right way it would smoke the fancy intake cylinder! the intakes only do maybe 15% (give or take) of the work on a 2 stroke engine.

i didnt read enough of your 1st post, sorry. i thought you were asking for opinions on this stuff.
