Ok well Im repaintn my blaster and my a-arm ball joint got stuck the the bottom hole of my hydro brakes , so I put the nut on it to hit out so I wouldn't mess up the threads but when I did tht it bent the the ball joint and it also stripped the threads and then I figured out u can't buy ball joints which in my opinion I think is dumb so I had to buy another a-arm the replace the one with the bent all joint. So I am wondering why are there no ball joints for stock a-arms then I,wouldn't have had to buy another one?

Poor design by Yamaha, unfortunately. The stock ball joint isn't replaceable, better Ebay a 91-06 blaster lower control arm (unless yours is a 88 or 89 in which case you HAVE to have an 88-89 lower control arm!)

The tool to remove it without breaking out a hammer is not expensive.

KD Tools , 3916 Universal Ball Joint Separator

The KD 3916 press (or similar tool sold under different manufacturers names) is a $20 tool (there aren't many specialty tools for under $20 anyway) applies even pressure to the joint without splitting the boot or having to hammer on it. It works wonders on blaster/atv tapered ball joints but also works on automobiles. I was even able to use that tool to press the track bar out from under my dodge ram!

so the other day i needed to change my crank shaft so i got my sledge hammer out and beat it right out. then used the sledge with a steel block to hammer the new one in, so i wouldn't mess up the threads.

And for those of you who don't know me, I am just poking fun at beating a balljoint loose with a hammer

I have a tool like that, but from Harbor Freight. It can be used to press the spindle onto the ball joint. I roughed up the threads on mine over the weekend. The ball joint was easier to turn than the nut. I turned over the tool (single fork on the bottom of the ball joint, split fork pressing down on the spindle) and pressed it together so I could tighten the nut.

A gear puller works on the blasty because there's nothing "in" there to block it. Good tip for blasty owners!

The tool I linked to works on 4WD ATV ball joints, tie rod ends, truck and car tie rod ends, and ball joint separation on automobiles (obviously undersized for heavy duty stuff)
