Saturday, 06 February 2010 18:23

The San Diego Supercross is under way! The day's afternoon activities on the track were delayed because of rain off and on ... but that's racing! Practice did start at 5:30, and it was raining. Ryan Dungey had the quickest lap time in the riders' limited practice. It's almost 7:30pm, just about time for racing, and it is not raining! Hopefully the rain will hold off until .... later

During the day, it has been raining off and on, and the track has been entirely covered up. Right now, as the evening's racing gets ready to start at 7:30, the rain has stopped. Very nice!

7:30pm - first race of the night takes off - 250 West Heat 1. Phil Nicoletti has the lead most of the race, but Wil Hahn goes by for the lead towards the end of the race. Hahn wins, Nicoletti second.

250 West Heat 2 - six laps in these 250 qualifying heats. Series points leader Jake Weimer with the early lead! Lap times are running just about 1 minute even. Jake Weimer holds on for the win! Blake Wharton is second, Josh Hansen third.

So far, no more rain. The 450's are getting ready to come out for their 8 lap qualifying heats. Race promoter Feld Motosports track crew has done an excellent job in preparing and maintaining the race course.

450 Heat 1 - Daniel Reardon is the early leader for about a lap and a half. Then Ivan Tedesco goes past and into the lead. Lots of action - Hill passes Reardon, and then passes Tedesco. The final positions at the checkered - Josh Hill wins, Ivan Tedesco, Davi Millsaps, and Daniel Reardon.

450 Heat 2 - Kevin Windham and Ryan Dungey are battling for the lead in the first couple of corners, but Kevin Windham does a triple that no one else does on the opening lap .. and Windham is leading. Ryan Dungey is in second. Andrew Short third. Ryan Villopoto is ninth.

On lap seven, Dungey moves past Windham and into the lead. It's Dungey, Windham, Short, Nick Wey, Justin Brayton, and Ryan Villopoto. At the finish it's Dungey winning! Windham second. Andrew Short third, then Justin Brayton, and Ryan Villopoto.

250 Heat 2 - no surprise on the guy up front - 250 West series points leader Jake Weimer! But Jake is passed by Trey Canard! On the third lap, it's Canard and Weimer first and second, with Max Anstie in third. However, there are some major crashes - this race has been red-flagged.

he restart has Jake Weimer up front, Wil Hahn is second, Trey Canard is third. Great race between the top three - very close! Weimer holds on to win, Hahn is next, followed by Canard.
