How do i get the clutch basket nut off without a clutch holder?

I removed the main gear nut but cant get the clutch basket

i removed the clutch basket nut first before the crank gear but i also used a clutch holder. i have heard of another way to do it but i cant remember what it was. do a search on here and see if you can find it.

I have heard you can use a penny and a rag and stick it between the gears to keep the motor from spinning. Or an impact gun.

DO NOT use a penny and a rag or any soft metal washer or any combination of the three. Use an impact, the nuts will spin right off.

Yes why not the penny trick. I have never done it myself. I bought the clutch tool for 30.00 at the local stealership. It works great one side is for the clutch boss and the other side works for the flywheel.

Got the main drive gear off with the penny trick, but my penny went completly through the gear and rolled out the other side, looking like a train ran over it.

SO i used a nickel and it came offf fine

But i then took my blaster to a buddys house and used the impact to remove the clutch basket nut and to put both back on

I hope you didn't put it back on with the impact gun! They factory has torque specs foe a reason bro.

whatever you use to jam the gears needs to be soft enough to roll through them rather than deformed/chip the teeth, hence why something soft, (penny, Brass Washer, Aluminium, rope) etc :) read the clymer/hanyes manual, it says it in there. I:I
