well i found a deal on cl, i asked this guy if he would take 150 cash and my xbox 360 for it. so if he said yes would it be a good trade? how hard is it to just fix the tranny? and if all else fail and the bottom end is crap then i can just buy a new bottom end on ebay for around 300 right? 1990 Yamaha YZ125

Its alot of work, a 300 doller 1990 125 motor will probably be as bad as what you have. Its sad but most old mx bikes (95 and older) end in the junk yard because they cost way to much to fix. some cases the price to fix is well over the cost to replace.

Long story short if you want a nice mx bike you really need to go big or go home. $150 mx bikes are junk. In like 03 I bought a 96 yz125 for $1500 what a sweet bike that was!!! But even as nice shape it was in Between My dad and i there was much work and money put into it Replacing piston and rings, Renickling the cylinder, new crank.....THATS ALMOST $1000 bucks there!!

At 14 I rebuilt the transmission in my old yz. Too many times shifting while wheelieing without using a clutch. The gears and fork in the trans was almost $500 to replace and i was doing my own work.

Honestly a xbox 360 is worth 100-150. so about 300 bucks for that, plus 300 for work in it. Think its worth 600?

i asked him whats wrong with it he said its just stuck in neutral and wont go into gear
and the other reason i want it is i need a new project or a winter project, i hate coming home and sitting on my a$$ watching tv lol, i do all my own work

It really boils down to what you want to do. If you want a project and are comfortable with the price, go for it! I:I

iv had 3 older style mx bikes one was a rm 125 1992 (run mint without any problems) next was a yz 125 1988 had nothing but problems also just sold a 1990 yz myself and i wouldn't own another one hard to get parts for and when you do they cost a fortune. over here in the uk they cost a fair bit to repair anyway
