i just wanted everyone's opinion on what's the best reeds you can buy for your blaster as far as performance and price. and are they easy to change out?

v3's and the reeds... just think of them as a 1 way valve(if u know what that is...), the piston sucks in air/fuel mixture when the piston goes up, then the piston comes down and pushes the air/fuel mixture back against the reeds and they close, compressing the mixture then its shot up into the cylinder to be ignighted. air goes in 1 way but cant go back.

am i right? correct me if im wrong but that sounds right.

so what is the difference between the reeds? the size, durability? or just the quality in which they're made, i see a lot of them that are made for racing or high performance, what do those reeds have that the stock ones don't?

well vforces are like doubles. they have 2 sets. and the reeds themselfs are carbon fiber and just the way its all designed it improves flow and reaction time(open/closing)

they are located on the engine side of your carberator. if you look where the little black boot is that goes intot the motor you will see the side of the reed cage. its a small 1/4 inch thick black peice where the carb boot bolts to the motor. if you know how to use a ratchet, you can get them off. just disconnect the air intace boot from teh back side of the carb and then remove the clamp that holds the carb to the boot on the motor side. once its loose, just peel it back and away while beign careful to not pull it all the way loose from the TORS (thing that sits on top of the carb) or hoses.

then use a small socket to remove the 4 bolts that attach that black boot to the motor. once they are out the reed cage will come out and you can look at it.

the stock reeds are a thin plastic reed that breaks easily and closes because they are larger petals than what are on a vforce. the vforce reeds are as stated above made from carbon fiber and are much more rigid. there are also 8 valves instead of 4 like on the stock cage. this allows more flow and is also paired with the firmer petals so that they open and close faster giving more throttle response.

they will not give you more HP, but they will noticably give you a more crisp throttle response and feel.

that's good to know, would the reeds being cracked or worn cause my blaster to idle badly, because if you look at another one of my posts "need help fast!!" i've had some trouble with that recently

if there cracked, they need to be replaced. and if u just dont see them sealing properly, they need to be replaced. remeber they have to seal fully in order to work.

it cant hurt to replace the reeds. especially if they have never been replaced. to replace the stock reeds its pretty cheap and easy to do. if you get the vforce its a good upgrade to install while you have it apart and looking at them.

until i see dyno results i wont comment on who is better. looks like a typical advertising ploy to me. alot of talk but no results to prove it. anyone can make up a "Flow result" and plug in any number they want on a website. the Dyno doesnt lie, dont beleive the digital versions you see on websites either. its SUPER easy to make one of those using photoshop. every company out there says their product is better than their cometitors.

another thing i noticed about their site is their "10 inches of water pressure" WTF is that pressure difference supposed to do? what about those who live above sea level? i also know that it takes water pressure 33 feet below the surface to equal the pressure of the atmosphere so at 10 inches you arent doing sh*t. every 33 feet is one more atmosphere of pressure applied. a reed cage has almost a constant negative pressure on it anyways so their method is about as useful as the nipples on a man.

you doubt me that much?? hmm.. you should talk to randelator (a yamaha techy... he talked me into them, and on the 1dirracing site there is a dyno sheet...

im not doubting you. im putting alot of doubt into the manufacturer on their claims. i would love to see this flow test they use in person.

heres what i get from reading their website....

"blahblahblahblhalbha we want you to buy our product blah blhalbhalhbaslhbalhbas

I have boysen on my CR125 and V3s on my blaster. Though i dont know how fair it is to compare the two bikes... the next upgrade for the 125 is going to be vforce 3s.

Correct me if im wrong, but i was looking at the g3s before i bought the vforce 3s, that was two years ago and they have been out of stock every since. Good luck waiting for those...

i noticed that they've been outta stock too.. idk why.. i ordered mine from there for my shee and my blasters and i had them within a month..

and i know you weren't really doubting ME valhalla, uhh talk to randelator though (if he still comes here.. i have his yahoo but he's rarely on anymore) im telling you to go to him because he is like a guru on them, he knows like every part of it inside out
