Hey guys & gals...

I am brand new to the forum, and to the Blaster World.

I am about to purchase the below pictured model for what I think is a D@MN good price, but the owner doesn't know the year. From what I can tell, it's older than 2002, because that's when the body style changed...

Any help would be appreciated...

Front the looks I would say a 99-02 blaster...they changed the body style in 03.

There is thread where it shows you the year based on the vin number. Check it out.

How much you getting it for?

Yes, they did look all the same from the front.

The Yamaha blue plastics were not used until the late 90 into the 2000's. If you look at early 90's blasters they had black, purple, yellow, white and these nasty green plastics. Also, the tank graphics look like the late 90's-2000's style. My brothers 01 had the exact same ones. The early 90's blasters had just the "blaster" graphic on them with out the rest of the background and stuff.

Also, if you notice on MOST of the early to mid 90's blasters they were always 2 tone. The fenders where one color and the hood and tank cover were another.

Now I am not saying that it is a 99-02 for sure but, from what I can see it looks to be that way. Somebody could have taken plastics off of a newer style bike and put them on there so on and so fourth.

Thanks. As soon as I get the chance, I'll scribe the VIN & check that out.

I'll be paying $600 for it w/ an extra set of wheels & tires.

Does it run? lol =)) thats a damn good price, that would be double in my area.

It did about 6 months ago. As you can see from the pics, it's sat for awhile. The previous owner passed away, his mother works for me, and she just wants it gone.

I'm planning on a complete tear down before I even try to crank it, just to be sure everything is right...

Then it's time for the mods...

first thing to do is exhaust, vf3's bigger carb, if you got the money send it to one of the boys on here and port/big bore kit that biotch!

I wish I had the money to keep my blaster. I wish I had money period. If I had a reliable source of income my blaster would be ill. But I don't, which forces sale for a four poke. Sorry Guys :( I'll hang around though.

First thing I'm doing is tearing it completely down, gusset the frame (cause I'm over 200 lbs, and don't want to crack the frame in the future), flip the wheels out for a bit wider stance, rust proof all the frame sections. & polish the plastics. That's about all I can do on my own. I've got a local guy here that can go through the motor & bore it out properly, and rework the carb.

I am so excited to get her running... B-)

hahaha im 25o lbs and ride the hell out of my blaster... stock suspension ... even jumps now and then and its straight

yeah i can still get some air on mine, stock tires blow! got my beadlocks and hubs, just waiting on handguards so i can do everything at once, cuz i am lazy!

OK, OK, OK...

My soon-to-be brother-in-law has a tape worm (or 3) and can eat anything he wants. He is always giving me crap for being heavier. Kept saying that my new toy wouldn't support me, & I guess he got in my head. (I think he just wants to buy it off of me for himself.. haha)

But I do want to make sure it's a solid frame to start with, no cracks, etc.
