What keeps the shift shaft tight

Hello All,

What keeps the shift shaft snug so it can grab the star gear. I have some side to side slop and dont see anything in the diags.

the cover itself keeps it in place. side to side play shouldn't affect anything, it should still catch the star.
try pulling the clutch cover and checking it out.

Yes, you are absolutely right. There is a bump on the clutch cover keeping the shaft in place.
