What is stock timing at?

I can not find any info on what stock timing should be. If I'm close on my marks by my timing light its 20 degrees.

I didnt know that you had to check the timing on these engines? I thought you just matched up the hash lines on sprockets and such when your rebuilding it...
 
Looks to me 20°BTDC is norm between 3500rpm and 6000 rpm, if you check it at idle and it's 20°BTDC then you are close about 2-3° from norm. I can't help ya on what timing can do, really don't know too much about that I know guys have gone a far as 8° but I think that is advance?
 
Yeah there is another long post about the +4 timing advance mod. I seen that some guys are running +8 on heavier modded engines. I will start playing with timing after I have some time riding on the bike to see how she feels. Till then I'm leaving it a bit retard to be safe
