What grease do you put in the ball joints rubber boots?

Is it the same grease you use on the a arm grease nipples (fittings)? When i removed the stock rubber boots the grease was grey and thinner unlike the usual brown thick grease.

i like a red waterproof grease, because i can get it in tubes to fit my grease gun.
the blue bel ray brand is similar.
discoloration of grease is a sure sign of water infection, clean out all the old grease and repack/inject any good waterproof grease and you'll be good to go

If you do water then a waterproof grease is a good choice, otherwise any general purpose chassis grease will do the job.
