hey i just got a 240 kit from vitos and i have stock gearing and i want a higher top speed but i dont want to have to peddle the clutch starting off, which front sprocket should i use

i had a 14t for a while and put my 13 back on cause i lost bottom end and i didnt see any top end gain. it might just be me, but i didnt notice any top end gain. and it made it harder to put up hills

yeah thats what vito says, that cylinder is fer from ported, and your gonna get smoked by ported 200's
and i was always under the assumption 14t's were for 18" tires and 13t's for 20's,
i didnt like the 14 on my ported 200cc with 20's, found myself goin down into 2nd and even 1st in right trails, with my 13 i can run them in 3rd, no downshifting, i guess what you ride in matters too, tight trails, open terrain ???

matter of fact, i still have the 14t, 2 -3 rides on it, $12 shipped ????

oh, and i noticed a considerable top speed gain, i'd say 10 - 15 mph more with the 14/40 gears, but maybe i was hallucinating ?????

Not quite 10-15.

I think its actually more like 5.

Stock gearing at 9000 RPM on 20 inch tires will get you to 53mph. With a 14t front youll get to 58.

Technically stock gearing at 9000 rpm with stock sized tires tops out at 59mph which is about what we know the stock blaster top end to be.

20 inch rears with a 14 tooth front sprocket still gears you a bit "higher" (higher overall ratio so you go through the gears quicker) than stock.

So if you drop tire size in the rear, and you DONT raise your front sprocket a tooth, you will lose top end, but youll zip through the gears faster.

For this info, I used a calculator Blasterdude27 posted. Primary reduction is 3.227 for a blaster from what I gather. And our max RPM without crazy modifications is between 8000-9000 rpm.

I was running 13 on the front with 22 inch tires and was just ripping through the gears on the trails and switched to a 14 and dropped to some 18 inch hoosiers for racing and can feel the change even with the smaller tires and with the 13 and 22 inch tires I was topping out right around 55 miles an hour as measured by my friends sportsman riding next to me

well that calculator must be damn close, when my bike was still stock except for my pipe and 20" turf tamers, my buddy followed me in his brand new gtp, and clocked me at 59mph going slightly uphill

yeah that calculator is the bomb I love messin around with the numbers to see what I get. I am switching my gearing to 14/38 with 18 inch rears. gives a nice top end which I like. with my new port job and all the new mods i'm doin I think she will still have plenty of balls on the bottom end too. I was running 14/40 with the same tires on my old mods in my sig and the bottom was awesome. without an extended swinger I couldn't keep my front end down comming out of corners if there was decent traction. just my nickle ("nickle" inflation is a biotch) oh and by the way I have a 15 for the same price as awks. never been ridden I didn't like the tiny clearance with the case when I bolted it on. by messing with the calculator I found that rear tire size seems to make more of a difference than changing the front sprocket. but the sprocket is a hell of a lot cheaper. ok another 3cent
