Bought a used 94 Blaster a few months ago. Supposedly had the engine rebuilt. Ran really good, started on first or second kick, great power. Engine started making a rattling sound. Cranked it up yesterday, revved it twice, BAM! It shut off like it locked up. Can hardly push the kick starter down at all. (Didn't want to try too hard) What let go? I don't know much about these motors. I'm told they are a fairly easy rebuild!? I've been using the Yamalube two stroke oil, mixing half a quart to 4 gallons of ethanol free gas, as instructed by Yamaha dealer. Smokes pretty good, or did when it ran. The auto oil injection was disconnected when I got it. What should I expect to pay the dealer to rebuild? Kind of a broad question I know considering we don't know the problem yet. Just trying to get a ballpark estimate and hoping some of you may have knowledge of this issue through experience. Thanks in advance.

Pull the pipe off and the carby and reeds and see if the piston is in one piece.

Leak test it before you pull it down further.
