What are these things?

So when it comes to electrical stuff, I'm an idiot. If I can't see the mechanical parts whirring around, I just don't get it...
So I'm trying to retrofit the early style hood to my '06 Blaster, and it won't sit down where it needs to because of large black box on the right in the pic. Is this the CDI? If so, where is it on the older models, or is it just smaller on the old ones because the TORS brain is separate? Anyway, any suggestions on what to do with it?

Next project will be new lights. I just ordered some OEM Banshee lights and a 75w stator B)

the tors and cdi are one unit on the 03+ can you just move it so its not in the way

question.....why would you want to put a older hood on??? the new ones are so much meaner looking...

Thats in the same location as the old CDI's and TORS units, but they are much smaller than that. Probably less than a quarter of the size of that. That whole bracket on the frame looks different from the older style to me.

yea on the 02 and older ones the CDI is about half that size and is mounted alittle higher up on the frame then that. it looks like they changed the brackets all around on the 03-06 one, heck idk if you can even get a 02 and older hood to fit.

As for why? I like the old hood. I think the new one is overstyled and dorky. MO of course.

i totally agree with u the old ones look best. and the mair one the long styled flat front with the wire look behind it. the new ones are lame.

yes i third that the older style looks best...i kinda think the new styles look like a bird kinda
