welder

why does every one hate on the stick welder.. i dont have a problem with it been welding a year on mine and they look just as good as a mig.. but mig is just alot easyier to use for first timers... Get a TIG welder i love doing it just really expensive

There is no problem with an arc welder. I own an arc, 3 migs and a wire fed flux core welder. The welds hold up great on arcs you just can't lay a bead like you can with a mig. The same goes with a flux welder.

There is a time and a place for each of them but for the basic hobbyist a mig lets you lay a bead with less cleanup which is why it is preferred.

^^^ i agree arc works best on thicker metal and not in tight places.. i still prefer the TIG whoa once you learn it its so nice

tigs are very nice but if you are just welding mild steel it is not necessary. Plus your average hobbyist isn't going to drop the dough to purchase a tig welder.

gasless migs ar sh!T...... i have 1 and it is a waste of time and space....

Like I said they each have a time and place where they are good. Wire fed flux cores and good when you are outside on a windy day. lol

look at this... im thinkin of buying it after xmas.... would it be a buy worth while?? eBay.ie: MIG-160 MAG SHIELDING GAS WELDER INVERTER * PRIME TECH (item 390122460468 end time 23-Dec-09 20:14:06 GMT)

oh man, how true. i was always used to my gasless one, then i started using the one with gas in my auto class and i can weld 100x better.

but i really dont have any trouble doing arc welding, most of the time i can lay it down so it copletely fuses into the metal and theres hardly a bump.
