welder

You only get what you pay for. If you buy a good item then it will be worth something when you decide to sell it.

You won't be happy with a stick welder. The welds are near impossible to look like anything but a line of boogers.

Keep your eye out for a mig. You can sometimes snatch a decent beginner level welder for $100 on cl.

Honestly your better off saving your money to buy a good mig miller, lincolin or hobart. Even if you are the best welder in the world your welds will only be as good as the machine can perform. Weak welds can be dangerous.

That one is not bad at all assuming it works. But I don't see the gun. So plan on spending another $100+ just for the gun. It looks like it is probably a 210 input so you would need to make sure you have the power to run it.

i have a 210 outlet im gonna call him and see if it comes with the gun

Make sure that it comes with a gun and leads, might not even be able to get them any more!! Also make sure that it is a gas shielded welder, gasless ones are no better if not worse than an arc.

Yeah if you have a Tractor Supply Company you can pick up a Hobart. They make one called the Easy Handler and it works good up to a 1/4 inch. I paid around $269 for mine and it works good.

alright i have a welding class at school so all i do is weld. so we finish working with arch welding and we are now working on mig. i love welding with both types of welders and i think my stick welds look awesome but im good with mig too. but i think you should go with mig because you dont have to mess electrodes in stick welding. so just throw roll of wire in the machine and go!!

I think every one should learn with a stick first. That way you get the basics down(heat management ,penetration, and form). Wire feeds are great but you can be mis lead by them. I've seen a lot of people lay some good looking beads that didnt get any penetration. Take your time with some scrap metal before you start welding on your bike.

Thanks for thr rep awk. I'm just trying to help my younger brothers to not make the same mistakes I made. I've been welding "wow" for twenty years. I had to count that one out. 97 you should see if you school offers a metal working or even ag shop class. Mine was tech systems. We did every thing from metal to wood(sheet metal forming, soldering, riveting, welding, tempering, and even structural). I really think it helped me to desighn and build better projects this way. Good luck 97.

we have a welding class that we go to the local college for but i cant take it yet but when i can i will

Don't forget you can clean up alot of the welding splatter and the welds themselves with an angle grinder.
A flap wheel works great for this.
