so yesterday i sent out stator of the hybrid to be warrantied out and started to take body of the skittle (that's what i'm calling the new blasty cuz of the multi color plastics) and i plan on getting back out to garage tomomrow to tear down motor to see what caused it to loose compression, i gotta work today :( but what i was wondering if there is anything in paticular that i should be looking for, and what i should do to solve it? i was thinking that while i got it tore down to fix it i should send out head and jug to have some kind of port job done on it, but unsure of what stye or how agressive it should be. i just started riding again winter of 09 and a lil over summer but i hope to do more and get better, so idk if i should go with something mild or look ahead and get something aggresive

Well, sounds to me like it may need to be bore/or just honed and new set of rings. You can measure the bore and piston and rings, I'm not the most knowledgeable person on all the specs. But since you do have it out and if money is there can't hurt to get it ported. As far as how aggresive, depends on how you ride and what u like!

If ya decide to get the porting done, Ken Oconner Racing and Flotek are top of the line!

Are you drunk right now? :-/

If I'm interpreting your post right, you are tearing the motor apart because it lost compression. What was the compression when you checked it? If it was low, then take the top end apart(cylinder/head/piston). Make sure to put a clean rag around the rod in the bottom end so nothing falls down in the crankcase. It typically helps a lot to just clean the quad around the engine before you take anything apart. From there you can try to identify the piston by the markings on top or bottom of the piston which will indicate size. From there, you mic the cylinder if you are able to. If not, you can send it out to be ported. Personally, I'd just get an aggressive trail port if I was you. A mild port job is fine and will retain more bottom end, but the aggressive port job will vastly make up for it in the amount of mid-top end power you get. When you send it to the porter......or most porters for the most part, just ask them to mic the cylinder to determine what size oversized piston you will need. The porter can USUALLY bore the cylinder for you and let you know what size piston you will need. Ken O'Connor can do this, Flotek can do this, Wildcard can do this, and so on. I'm sure not EVERYBODY will, but those are the top 3 porters on this board. There are numerous others as well like CT, LRD, etc. so you aren't limited to them, but that's all on you as a choice of who you decide to go with.

that's what i was meaning, i was just goin to tear down the top end and see what's wrong and probly send it out for a port job ( was half thinkin bout doin the vitos kit on it, but i think it to much right now).

so i got things tore down, and wow, eather he really did things wrong or something else went wrong. i don't recall the hybrid piston being that dry when i rebuilt that motor. but this thing was dry as the saharra desert and all tore up. plus i think the reeds are messed up, i don't think that they are supposed to be warped like they are......

you probably blew the paper base gasket which made it run lean and seize up on you like that you should only run oem and cometic gaskets

and if you feel like you need more power get it ported just call up one of them and tell them what you want and thell pick a port out for you

so you didnt do a leakdown test you should buy one before you rebuild it so that doesnt happen again holeshotman sells one or you can make your own
