alright guys I blew my crank thru my crankcase this weekend at a local riding area known for gncc. my question is, is there anyway to make a blaster engine watercooled or maybe a watercooled swap?? if you know anything let me know! thanks guys!

"The heavily finned, air-cooled Blaster engine has roots from a water-cooled machine, as evidenced by the plugged water pump casting on the right side of the engine. The history of the engine in its water-cooled form can be traced directly back to the RD/RZ125 lc (shares an identical bottom end and crank cases but uses a different stroke crank) and the Australian market WR200. It is possible to use parts from either of these bikes and build an all-Yamaha water-cooled Blaster engine, or one can simply swap the engines since the engine mounts are nearly identical."

From Wikipedia

A regular air cooled blaster engine that is ported, head re-chambered, and piped will make 32HP. No need for all the extra weight.

i dont care about weight. im just wondering if there is a way to make it watercooled

You can try to find a liquid cooling head kit like in the pic!

Plus you will need a battery to run the electronics that control the exhaust power valve, unless you just set it to "Full open" and forget the electronics....BUT.... then again...you have exactly what you would have if you just stick with a ported AIR COOLED blaster engine. Most folks think that a blaster engine over heats easily. Complete bunk! That heavily finned cylinder and head does its job well. You have to keep air movement over the fins, but then again, you have to do that with a liquid cooled engine too (radiator with no fan).

That just looks ................. wrong.
Does that even have a water pump? Or is it natural thermal cycling , like a Model T ?

IIRC, that was a kind of pricy mod, which would have no power gains over a modded head.
And if you wanted to change compression, just get two modded heads, one for premium, one for race gas.

The end.

If your interested I have a complete water cooled top end along with the stock carb clutch cover (houses water pump) power valve and electronics to run it. I bought a complete DT200 to get the transmission gear from for my Blaster powered DT175. Shoot me an email if you'd like pics at timstoys@hotmail.com.
