hey guys the water in the rad and the pipes going to the head on my yfz are frooze the dumbass who had it before me never put anti-freeze in!! what should i do?hot water over the pipes?

you can cover it with a tarp and run a heater under it . Remember that it Gradually Froze so it needs to Gradually thaw out!!! any fast change in temp yes will melt the ice , BUT the cast aluminum engine also responds to that temperature change and can be damaged if doing so . make a lean to or A frame style shelter over it and run a small heater on low inside it , then when its thawed out , make sure its refilled with actual antifreeze , how cold is it there ?

drain what water you have left out. then fill the rest with warm antifreeze. dont put hot water in there. but warm water is ok.

instead of calling the previous owner a dumbass perhaps you should ask yourself why you didn't check it before the weather got extreme.

i wouldn't try starting it at all until it completely thaws. can you get the rad cap off? maybe try pouring anti-freeze into it like that and just wait and see if it melts the ice. good luck.

my point im trying to make guys is all i have is a blow torch and i wanna get the water out i dont care about putting new water in !!! thanks

i assume you have warm water, pour warm water over the hoses and rad to thaw some of the ice and drain it. keep doing this till all the ice is gone.
do warm water, not hot.

what they said^^^^^

and then pay really really close attention to if its losing fluid and where its losing it to. hopefully it hasn't done any damage already

ill do that now shee ,what about wrapping the pipes in tin-foil and then putting a little gas heater beside it(which i just found lol )

i wouldn't wrap them in anything, i'd just put the heater next to it on low-mediumish and let it go.

and for all us US guys....
its going to be about 1 degree above 0 Fahrenheit there tonight, assuming he means -17C

i know, gets that cold here all the time too, just making sure that the guys knew it wasn't going to be -17F cuz that's just cold as balls lol

so i got the ice out of the pipe that delivers water to the engine,so ill get a pic to show you the heater ,which i doubt is stong enough to heat the quad if its not ill get the hairdryer(blasterdads idea lol)
