Hey all, like everyone i hate wasting money, and so when i heard people on here bashing the vitos degree key saying it only advances timing 2 degrees and how its "not the right way to do it blah blah blah"....i naturally was bummed because i run one. But then i got to thinking its not that hard to do the math on it to test it once and for all. I am unsure of the actual measurements but i think i am close. Any one who has seen the degree key probably notice that the offset is TINY. I am saying 1 mm or about 5/128in. (may be more but oh well, just goes to prove my point). I think this is where people get off saying it doesn't advance it much. I also am unsure of how thick the crank shaft is right at the middle of the keyway, but il say 1.1 inch or 28mm (if someone could measure crank thickness at the keyway that would be awesome!) But without going all geometry on you guys, 1mm of linear offset @ 14mm away from the centerline = 4.08 degrees of timing advance. As i said i am not 100% sure on these measurements but they are not that far off. So i say it is a good mod...im sure some wont believe me and still will bash them...but at least i actually give a logic....and p.s. at 1mm linear offset in order to get only 2 degrees of timing advance your crank would have to be 56mm or about 2.2in thick at the keyway...
