yea im having a hard time with my DMV right now trying to get a plate for my quad, i have been on hold for an hour
Why would you register your quad?? Do you ride on state land?? If not, why give money to the state?? Does NY provide areas for you to ride for your registration fee??
You can ride on the street in the snow without a plate!! If the cops start chasing you, it's even more fun!!
I duno about the laws in your state, but I'm pretty sure here in MA, if they declare a state of emergency, you can ride ATVs on the road, or atleast that's what I've always been told. I don't think they have to be registered.
up in the states they must be alot more harsher on quadders.

Yep thats how it is in NH. during the ice storm i saw alot of people riding their atvs insted of cars to get around and cops didnt care unless they did somthing stupid

depends on where you live, for sure. IMO, quads should be totally street legal. Think of how much gas I'd save if I rode my quad to work instead of driving one of my jeeps!!

Before I got my license I used to drive around town on my quad, pick up chix, etc....never had a problem. But then one time a cop that I hate, and he hates me, saw me and gave me a ticket. This was when I was in college. Technically, it was an unregistered motor vehicle, or some BS. If my hands and lap wasn't full of stuff, I would have just hit the gas and gone, but I had jeep parts all on my lap (400ex) and was holding a bottle of snapple in the clutch hand....
But, as I understand it, if you do register an ATV you can only like cross the street, or go down the street a hundred feet or so to another trail or something. If you had a plate though, they could figure out who you are!!

in cali if you ride anywhere that isnt your property you have to have your bike greenstickered or for 03-up two strokes you have to have red sticker. witthe the red sticker you can only ride during certian times of the year. if they catch you with a non stickered bike they can impound it.
That's wicked gay. But I guess you guys have tons of federal land there...but the 2 stroke thing is still retarded. But, if your neighbor owned a sh*tload of land, and you were riding on it with no gay sticker, who, other than your neighbor, has the right to enforce any laws on your neighbors property?? Assuming you have permission to ride there. As far as I'm concerned, nobody!!
Have they seen any decrease in smog in relation the the drastic decrease in 2 strokes?? Have the figured out it's not OHVs that are causing the smog problem yet?
when i said "your property" in the post i meant private property. you could ride non stickered in your neighbors property if he let you. Its only if you get cought on BLM or US Forest Service land that you will get in trouble non-stickered.
I am not 100% sure why they have the red sticker still but untill they change it I'll be staying with my 02-under 2 strokes.

yea....im from MA to and if theres a few inches its basically emergency transportation, you can take snowmobiles..quads..backhoe...whatever you got cops might say sumthin but you wont get introuble down here

We ride anyway and have never been caught and we ride all over the place the cops usually just go by but when my friends broke down he said just ride slow on the side but that never happened lol
You guys are all right about the "they declare a state of emergency" like I said in a other post (If we get three inches of snow its declared a emergency). Thing is a few of us live in New York, which is bad enough with crazy half ass backwards laws, living on Long Island makes it only worse.
Cops here wont care if there is a foot of snow, all atv MUST be registered, new are used. You buy a brand new atv at a dealer the have to by law register it for you.
