Got a vf3 reed cage and a pro design intake for vf3's. The reed cage has a piece that goes into the manifold side with a cone on it. That cone will not fit into the manifold. Can i cut it off or does it need to be there?

That piece can be trimmed for the cage to fit....

if you look it has the exact shape as the internal cone of the pro-design, cut off the nozzle from the vf3's, it looks to be for directling the airflow, the intake will handle thise duties now
i have the exact same set-up, seems we got the wrong intake, pro-design supposedly makes on just for the vf3's

i also reached thru the intake and scribed the shape of the intake with a scratch awl, which is larger than the hole in the reeds, then "ported" it out to match the diameter of the intake to make a nice, smooth transition

edit....found my old thread on this subject

Thanks for the info. I cut the cone off and smoothed it up, put the whole motor back together and leak checked. It held 10 psi for 10 minutes. I guess it's finally ready to go back in and test. Ken did me an awesome job and i can't wait to run some heat cycles and get this mother to the track.
