How bad is it to sync the carbs?

Ive done it a few times on crotch rockets but that was with a tool and i dont have the tool its in indy where a buddys going to lincoln tech.

I know theres a window on each carb but how accurate are they?

Any tips or tricks you can lend would be helpful mines about ready to fire up and im nervous.

I take it tors are removed. I take mine to a local big name shop K @ T there just around the corner and the use that little volume ball looking thing i have never use the window thingys but an old friend showed me a trick take a new broom stick cut it down to a 6 inch piece with the engine off of cource open the throttle so the slides are up stick the round end in the carb and let the slides drop use the screws on top to adjust till both slides hit and leave the stick at the same time . air screws are a bit harder cuz when you drill them out you have to trim down the inlet so the screw goes into the throttle body after its tapped so you gotta kinda play it by ear unless you have that little volume bulb deal . dunno if that helps but give it a try

A cheap and nasty flow meter can be made with a length of 3/8 clear plastic tubing and some water coloured with food colouring.

Mark divisions on the tube, put in a few tablespoons of water, bend the tube into a U, place one end close enough to the carb inlet to notice a change of fluid level. Duplicate for the other carb, and adjust the slide.

Its not going to get you spot on, but pretty darn close, close enough that the equaliser tube can correct.

Very nice shee. How are you only into it with a grand? Must of got the bike itself dirt cheap. I dont want to even think about how much I have in my balster build right now :o

Its real simple to sync your banshee carbs with the right tool of course, i do mine from time to time with the same tool in this video and its so simple to do yourself its not worth paying someone. I cant remember where i got my tool but i am sure if you look around banshee HQ you will find where to get one, there like 54 bux and worth every penny for being so simple to use.

found a carb sync on e bay 34 bucks gonna be a great investment

If it is on Ebay, be very, very careful.

I typically use a couple wires or 1/16 drill bits to set up the throttles on multi-carb machines.
If I have off idle problems (and you know you are doing this only for off idle response, right?)
I might use a water balance tube to get it real close.
Let's see, a couple drill bits and 20' of tubing, total cost $5?

You use the stems of the drill bits to set the gap at the bottom of the throttles to the exact same measurement.
You plug the tubes in the vacuum lines, drape them up over a hook on the ceiling and down into a bucket of water.
You set up the idle stops to get the same height of water on all tubes while the engine is running at idle.

I use a similar tube tool in conjunction with a shop vac to check porting.
