trigger coil question

this question doesn't really pertain to a blaster but really any trigger coil. I believe you usually have 2 wires from it. would it be correct to say that one wire goes to the cdi and the other is just a ground. would it also be correct to assume that only one certain wire has to be the ground?

If you don't have a wire diagram you'd have to manually track the wires down see where they go
