i had to do a complete bottom end rebuild on my 98 blaster and we got it all back together and was looking at the shift star when we were moving the shifter and instead of stopping at 6th gear it just keeps going and same with when it in first if u keep downshifting it goes to sixth and so on. normally something stops it from going any higher or lower. has anyone else had this problem? im new to tranny work so i dont know what has caused this. any advice is appreciated thank you

you must not have your shift forks in correctly. that's the only thing that will stop the drum from turning infinitely. make sure the forks are in the correct slots on the tranny gears and also make sure the little "knob" things on the forks are in the correct drum slot guides.
