Best bet would be to find the online manual or get a Clymers Repair Manual.
How is it that you have an engine to assemble but no complete/assembled trans shafts?
FYI, snap rings go on a certain way. If you look closely, one side is square, other is slightly rounded. The force/thrust of gear goes towards rounded side, square goes against shaft it's pushing against. Which is why I suggested a manual.
I'd pull my hair out on the five clip shaft.
