Toughest/Fastest year Blaster

i would say 06 is the tohgtest just because most people do not know how to maintain them right and with a 06 some morun had less time to screw it up but then you have people with a brain who know a dirty air filter is a bad idea :)

The 1994 blaster is the best because of the green plastic....lol..:D

I didn’t even know that Blasters were still being manufactured into the 2000s. I remember when they first came out, back in ’88. I was at my local Yamaha dealer (Malcom Smith’s) trying to figure out how I could afford a new Banshee. Salesman sold me on a slightly used Warrior, but at $2,300 the Blaster definitely got my attention. A few months later, we were out riding at El Mirage, and there was a guy there renting atv’ so I rented a Blaster. Figured I’d let my wife ride it, and see if she could keep up. Of course I had to give it a try… The following year, I bought a new ’89 green/gray Blaster. It amazes me that the changes were so minor over the years. That says a lot for the quality of the design. Until recently, all I’ve done to it was; installed a FMF pipe/silencer, re-jetted the carb, uni filter, a set of turf tamers, and a few cosmetic mods. The motor has never been apart. It has been setting, covered up in my garage, and only ridden a few times over the past 15+ years. My son recently expressed interest in riding it again, so we cleaned carb and got it started, but it ran like crap so I put it in the shop. So far they’ve rebuilt the carb, replaced the TORS (!!), replaced the oils, new chain, plug, filter, lubed, repacked the silencer, and the new seals should be this week. Hopefully it’ll be back in the dirt by this weekend! Since I’m basically doing all this so my son will have a quad to ride, I’m thinking about getting back into riding myself. At my age, I don’t exactly seek out jumps, whoop-de-doos, berms to roost… But I do want something sporty.
