top end head gasket

So I am putting my new head gasket on tomorrow and after consulting two online blaster manuals they both said different things. Does anyone know what side the flat end of the gasket is supposed to go... the flat end on the side where the kick starter is or the flat side on the side where the carb is? I have a 2000 blaster. Thanks for any help

there's usually an arrow and the should point towards the front of the quad

heres a drawing im not sure what gasket your are asking about if u can help clarify a little more i can deff help you out CYLINDER - HEAD - 1998 Yamaha BLASTER / YFS200K are u refuring to #8 or 12??

number 8 speedracinshift that drawing is what I am referring to, but my online manuel I have for an 89 blaster shows the gasket flipped the opposite way with the flat side on the opposite side of the engine

don't trust the parts diagram, go with the manual

ya alway go with the oem book for stuff like that .. and the point goes to the front of the motor and the groove to the faceing up

and if u need part #s for the oem pipe flange crush ring i can give u thos too if u need them

yup...just keep in mind that the parts book is just to give you an idea what stuff looks like/where it goes not necessarily HOW it goes (i used to work in parts at a gm/chrysler dealer)
