Top end fried, pics, need to know what size to bore

Weird. Ill have to call in the morning. None of the wiseco kits say they come with the bearing. They do say they come with wristpin.

I think they come with the wristpin bearing but it's been a while and my memory is about as good as 1984 computer.

EDIT: Nevermind, I think it's separate. It just depends how it is marketed and sold as a package and sh*t. The piston comes in a small box. Wristpin and gaskets are probably separate.

So Im leaning towards an FMF setup for exhaust and some Boyesen carbon reeds. Does 280 sound about right for price on the FMF setup? Any other opinions on reeds, worth the money or no?

Dual stage carbon reeds on the stock cage are nice addition. Just make sure to loctite the screws in when you put them on. I put mine on without reed stoppers but that's just personal preference. When you buy from Rocky Mountain, just buy a whole bunch of mains I'd probably buy 270-310. They are only like $2.50 each. That way you don't end up finding out later you need a different main, don't have it, so you pay $2.50+$7.00 for shipping another time around.

Are you getting a new exhaust or used? For the stock cylinder, I would probably get a Toomey myself.....if I knew I was going to port later, then it would depend on the riding but probably the Power Pros AKA every other name it's called.

The exhaust will be new. I will port it this winter, so...Power Pros eh? Ill do some more reading.

The exhaust depends on what type of riding you plan on doing. They're runed for different engine RPM's and flows. Matching the pipe, porting, and riding style are crucial for getting the most out of the setup.

If you are mainly in the woods, tight trails, mudding, or general riding (not engine screaming) the FMF is the exhaust of choice. It's a "mid" pipe (gives a decent bottom end with a LOT power power out through the middle of the RPM range but not a huge amount of top end power).

If you are trail riding and light racing (open fields and light trails but some high speed stuff) the toomey pipe might be more up your alley. It's a "mid-top" pipe with decent bottom end and plenty of pull near the top.

If you are dune riding or riding open trails or racing high speed, the power pros/CT/dynoport/ (the right bends) might be right for you. They don't offer as much down low... but when they get onto the pipe it's harder than the others. They offer LOTS up top.

Once you know what you're going to be using it for, then you can make a decision on type of pipe and porting to get done.

Got the jug measured, shop said I needed a 66.5mm piston. Got everything ordered. Im leaning towards an FMF pipe system. My fiance has one on her Blaster and I like the way it runs. Will the FMF still be good when I port my head?

I do like to get high in the rpms, Im just not sure I can justify the extra money. It looks like FMF is cheapest. Where are you guys getting the pipes other than fmf?

I got mine used on craigslist but if your not gonna do alot of motor work i would get toomey or fmf but if you do get alot of motor work supposedly the right bends are better

Online......for sale section on here, other forums, ebay, craigslist, directly from pipe manufacturers.......get creative and scavenge for pipes.

FMF is perfectly fine. KGibson prefers FMF with his ported Blaster over others, so it should be fine. I can't remember which one he is running though. There are 2 different FMF pipes.

idk what they usually have but i bought a top end kit from wiseco and it came with everything

Fmf fatty for motocross ftw (literally) :}

ftw?

Should have all parts in tomorrow and the fiance is going to drop off the cylinder for boring if/when it comes in. Should be in good shape for some riding this weekend. Also, I ordered a 2" extension kit from ebay for the rear swing arm like my other blaster has on it.

Gessz what happened did you not mix the gas?

Nope, I just put gas in and ran the wee out of it. Not really. Previous owner used the oil injection instead of mixing fuel and burnt it up. Im getting rid of the oil injection. Cylinder is at the shop now. Should have some new pics up manana. Im anxious to compare the two blasters. They both have the same bore, but my other one has FMF pipe and silencer, boyesen reeds, and K and N filter. My new one has stock exhaust, stock reeds, and a uni filter. Ill let you all know how they compare.

Ok, went for the first ride, everything is up and running. I really wish I would have bit the bullet and purchased the exhaust and reeds as well. My fiances has quite a bit more power than mine with just those two extra mods, not that I was pushing mine too hard, yes I followed the breakin procedures, very time consuming. Seems to be doing well on the 250 main jet I installed, gotta pull the plug and check. I did a plug chop, but then realized I forgot my plug wrench, oops.
