i was wondering if an any one knew how to clean a piston properly. im getting a new powercore 2 scilencer for my blaster, and figured while im at it, mays well take off the entire exhaust system and clean it, than go another step foward, andc take off the head of the engine and clean that and the piston. can i do that while the engiine is still in the bike, or do i have to take it out. and also how do u clean a piston properly? it probs have never been done before, so i was expecting it to b really oilly.

u should only take apart the top end if there is a problem with something, u dont need to clean the piston, the only spot it will build up is on the dome of the piston and if u take it apart u will need a new gasket kit...and if u reuse the gaskets more than likely it will cause a massive airleak somewhere that will fry ur motor...one thing u can do is to clean the carbon buildup off of the exhaust port when u put the new pipe on..it does build up there pretty bad and u want that as smooth as glass so theres no disruptions in ur exhaust flow

Yea im with freek leave it alone!

If it runs good starts easy then i say leave well enough alone.

Id advise against shooting carb cleaner brake kleen or anything that will wash your cylinder down either.

Just more work than its worth for the possible headaches and no gain.If you pull the head you might as well pull the jug and slap new rings and piston it its only 4 more nuts.

i feel like im getting yelled at... lmao hah ok. well the reaon y i wanted to do it was because i bought it used a fews months ago, and the guy b4 me prob never did anything to it..... ok ill just do the exhaust than. and i never use that carb cleaner crap. it never works.... waste of money..

I wouldnt say its crap and doesnt work.Works rather well to clean carbs I:I

ehhhh.... i do a lot of engine work for ppl, and thats how i make money... (small engines-weedwackers leafblowers etc), and everytime i tried to use the carb cleaner, it never works for me..... i usually better off using a rag, and small peice of wire to clean them out..

Not yelling, just stern teaching. I wouldn't even clean exhaust for fear of a chunk of carbon getting in the cylinder. Only thing I've ever found to disolve carbon is seafoam and that takes almost forever (seems to me).

a pistion covered in oil isnt a bad thing eather :p
id leave it alone unless you wana go with and new set of rings (only if your compresions low)

Carbon is one step from being a diamond. Might consider the saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it" Little bit of carbon won't hurt it in ex, little bit in cylinder will.

Seafoam an excellent carb cleaner i soak every carb i do in it then use gum out carb cleaner and compressed air.

I like the seafoam because it dissolves the trash on the outside as well as inside all at once.

But to each his own and it dont matter the mode of transportation as long as you arrive in the end with a clean carb ive seen all kinds of ways of doing it.
