i bought this throttle cable a few weeks ago:
Yamaha Blaster TORS Elimination Thumb Throttle cable : eBay Motors (item 200317705495 end time May-31-10 13:39:09 PDT)

i just put it on after putting my whole quad back together after the rebuild. i started it up (for the first time on the new top end) and it was stuck wide open. i looked at the cable and it has no more slack so i had it tightened all the way on the throttle itself and on the carb. i looked in the carb and sure enough the slide is about half way up. there is no way this cable is going to work but my question is what cable should i buy then? cause this is supposed to fit my 30mm mikuni carb.

well first off.do you have the screw on the top of the carb adjusted alll the way down?do you have the cable adjusted all the way in on the throttle box?cuz if you got them adjust for ur idle then that could be why.you need an idle screw kit.and make sure the cable is in the screw all the way on top of the carb cuz i have did that before.the cable will be bent over that screw and not actually in it.just check them first

yeah it is screwed all the way down on the top of the carb and its all the way in on the throttle box. i checked the top of the carb and thats all the way in on the top too. i took this thing off and on about 25 times not even joking. so what do i need to do now?

I had this same problem. Enevitably I had to pull the cable off and pull the cable slack at the throttle side and use a drill bit and carefully drill the dimples (not all the way through)that are pinching the metal cuff around the outer plastic housing. Slide the down out of the way. About a 1/2" to 3/4" back use a razor blade and shave the plastic from around the coiled metal band the houses the cable. Here I used a grinder and carefully grinded the metal carefully not harming the cable. After the housing is cut back, re-install the metal cuff and use wire crimps to pinch back on. This should give your cable enough travel to allow the slide to sit where it should at idle.

/\/\/\/\ well that just sucks to have to mod a brand new part that should fit
