ok well first... im thinking of doing a 240 kit, possibly a vitos which i also heard the piston isnt to good. but anyway my question is if i do the 240 kit am i going to be heppy with the mods done to my bike already or am i gonna want to upgrade everything and end up spending more than i want to. i currently have fmf gold series with power core 2 pipe, vitos carbon reeds, mikuni 28mm flat side carb, and reed spacer for performance. my question is is it going to run good and be reliable with wat i have or should i end up gettign better exhaust, v force reeds, bigger carb, and alum. air box. cause 500 bux can turn into 1500... let me know wat u have done to your 240's and how u like them! thanks I:I

What type of riding do you do?
You may be happy with the gains of just a port job. That is your best bang for the buck. Mill your head while you're at it, and you should be well pleased with the performance gain. But if you are set on getting a 240 kit, I would recommend buying from someone who also does porting, and get it done at the same time, or you will be trying to feed 240 cc's with the same crappy stock port layout.

A good port job will net you close to 10 hp. An unported 240 cyl will not be near that gain. A ported 240 kit will probly net you 12-14 hp gain. Now once you have the 240 kit, your other mods like bigger carbs and better pipes will give better gains than with stock bore.

But, in my opinion, it is more cost effective to just get a port job. If you want to go all out on speed, save your money and buy a Banshee. You will get VERY noticeable gains from a good port job.

I met up with a guy at the dunes who had an UNported 240 kit, carb, extended swingarm, 9 paddle haulers, all blinged out.
I had a .060" overbore with a port job from RB Racing, stock everything else except for Pro Circuit pipe, Boysen reeds, jetted, and K&N filter, and 7 paddle Haulers. I beat him 9 out of 10 times. Why? He was feeding that big engine through the stock ports.

I simply made mote power than him and had a better setup....Porting is the way to go with the Blaster. You will be plentyfast and you can save money for a Banshee!

def. a good idea i may do that possibly a wiseco piston and port it. thanks for the advise how much odes a port run??? and an average price for a bore? and i do wat eva riding trails and stuff, wide open fields and streets... no sand or dunes or nothing like that. just kinda want some more power out of the blaster but i dont want to go to crazy... wat do u think the dif. would be with a .40 over wiseco and a port job??

Honestly you don't even need to bore it out. Gains would be minimal (maybe 1 hp), and you decrease the life of your motor substantially (kinda like a 240 kit). You could get it ported by RB Racing for $240 I believe with shipping, and hone your cylinders and mill your head for another $50.

The 240 cylinder sounds like an awesome upgrade, but you really need to spend a lot to get it fast. Even if you get the 240 cylinder ported, you won't be flowing near enough to get the full potential. You'll need a 35-39mm carb, boot, throttle cable, and air box assembly, reeds, as well as better pipe, like you stated. That carb and pipe would be choking your big motor pretty bad.

Oh, and the difference, I know first hand that if RB does the port job, you'd feel like you're on a whole new bike. Probly jumps from 20 (before porting) to 28 hp (after porting).

yea sounds good but i may bore it slightly prob. the smallest i can go b/c im still on a stock piston and bore i dont know how good my cylinder is i should do a compression test but mayb a .20 over and a port job but thanks for the advise im prob gonna do it but i hate the wait time of machine shops im gonna ask around and see who can do it around here and ill prob mill the head...

thats sic im prob gonna do it do they bore to or no? and can i take my jug off without pulling the whole motor and everything and wat parts would they need for porting the middle and top of the jug... ive hardly delt with these motors before i deal with cars mostly...

I believe it is just like four nuts at the base of the cylinder. Remove your intake manifold and the whole top end should slide off..You may have to remove the gas tank, don't remember. He will also mill the head for you if you send it with the cylinder...Google RB Racing porting and it will lead you to his site...Call him up...
