I know I'm a newbie, but thank you for all your help. What a great FORUM!!!
I bought this 2001 blaster cause it was garage kept. extremely low hrs. was oil injected and had no battery.... For my son of course. So far we've run almost two tanks of gas through it and the party is over... I now understand all about oil pump failures, and T.O.R.S.,,, I've probably asked too many questions, cause now I'm all confused. Things have sure changed since the 80's, CR's and RM's.. I just finished rebuilding top-end. I have been told I could leave oil pump connected and mix 32:1 and break-in new top end. It fired right up but started breaking up when I touched throttle cable or turned left. Thanks to this forum I was connected with the TORS removal page. After disconnecting wires etc. The damn thing ran great..... Then it shut off after idling for 2 min. and would not restart. Could this be a fuel mixture problem (too much oil), It has fire, but won't run. It did backfire once, extremely loud, but that's it. I did not drain oil tank. I just wanted my son to ride....

Sounds like your saying the pump is in complete working order. It cannot be pumping oil along with tank premix. You can leave the pump on, but must remove the drive gear. Or you could pull the lines leave the gear on, but have to cap off the carb fitting where the line goes in. Or spend 30 bucks and get a blockoff kit or something.

Well in that case its probably pumping nothing but air into the carb making it run excessively lean. The quickest fix would be disconnect the black oil line to the carb and cap that fitting off.

I left the oil in the so called failed pump didn't disconnect anything... I was told the only thing is it might be a little rich? Sounds like the oil pump might be working. I will disconnect lines, replace plug and try again.

oh okay i thought you drained the oil tank, you meant gas tank. Yea to much oil then. I found a rubber block off cap at lowes 4 pack 55cents is all.
