First off, does this swing arm look like it will hold up.

I dont really jump the quad, but I ride pretty hardcore trails and whoops. Also It is extended in front of the shock mounts. Is there any way I can get away with not moving the shock mount up and having to reweld it. Something like a longer shock(pre 85 250r or maybe yfz 450 shock. I was also thinking of making brackets that would bolt to the holes on the lower mounts to move the shock up 3 or 4 inches. I need all the suggestions and help I can get. Thank You guys.

with the shock mount moved back so far, I'd think that you'd have a hard time find a shock to give you the right ride height. I'd look for something better.

I agree. It may be cheap but, it may not hold up and it does not look that good. Also yes, the shock mount needs to be moved up or else even if you did get a shock that would fit it would be a really rough ride.

i think a yfz450 shock would be good in their. you see peoples blastys with jacked up rear ends that look sketch, thats with the normal shock mount position. i dont think it would be as bad with a shock mount moved down.

Once i sit on my quad it levels out perfectly. i mean the stock shock lets the quad sit flat but when you get on it sinks down anways. SO you may as well have a shock that can hold a normal persons weight.

sketch? i picked the yfz 450 rear to make my blaster higher in the rear.

anyways you may what to do what was mentioned above. it might work. you can find yfz 450 rear shocks on ebay for around $30-$40 shipped.

i would re-enforce that area of the swing arm that they extended a little more. it always weighs a ton what another few oz of steel?

Dont I have to cut the airbox to get the yfz shock to fit? I dont want to do that, because I ride in a lot of mud.

No you dont have to cut the airbox. d.jackson and I should have had a DIY on this shock install. Ill do one now.

1. Get YFZ450 shock.
2.Cut bottom mounting bracket to about 1" long and drill new holes.
3. Get new grade 8 bolts.(one for the top and one for the bottom)
4.Slide shock in place. (fits just like stock)
5.Tighten down shock mount bolts.
6.GO RIDE!

Do yfz shocks have resoviors? If my shock mount is back 3 inches, that will increase the angle that the shock sits at right? Is is bad to have the shock sit at say a 30 degree angle as opposed to thestock 45 degree angle? Also what is the significance of cutting down the shock mount. mine is stock and is already about one inch long.

The YFZ shock is a good 4" longer than stock. I just cut the bottom mountng hole to make it a bit smaller and to make it fit more stock. also if you shock is laying flatter then its not going to compress as much making your ride rough. shocks are ment to be run at about 45 degrees. 30 degrees is pretty flat and it may not compress at all. only way you can find out is to try it.
