swap (250+) or big bore?

if ur talking a yz 250 then go that route u can build a blaster a long ways just to get what the 250 has on stock hp and the swap isnt that hard

i was asking cause a buddy of mine has a blaster frame thats complete, he blew the motor cause he ran on no oil, his dad did some crazy jimmy rig with a lawnmower motor (LOL) and hes selling it to me for literally nothing. he's giving me the seized up motor aswell and since he welded mounts for the lawnmower and id have to cut and weld mounts anyways i thought blow the $600 i have on a big bore kit or buy a swap?

well if you have access to a welder and the tools to get it done id go for the 250 swap hands down but thats me. really it would all depend on how much u can get all the 250 parts because u will need a motor of course, all the electrical, carb, and a full exhaust and u will have to put some kind of radiator in there im using a 06 yfz450 radiator on my swap and there is another guy on here that used a 500 predator radiator so u have options there. if u can get all of that u will be set to swap it out. if not u will always have the blasty motor to fix up

I'd say go for a swap, something like a yz250 would be great and there are quite a few members on here who have already done this swap that you could reference from.

Ive seen a couple swap threads the thing is finding a motor that runs id like to buy an older running bike with a beatup frame but id have to look very hard. I have to see what condition the blasty motor is in. Ill keep you guys posted.

what route would you go if u had to choose?

Since you asked this question, I'd say if I where you I would put the Blaster engine back in and be time & money ahead. If it where me I'd prolly put in the yz250 & set it up for alky ...LOL...burp....but you know what opinions are worth, right.. :) . Whatever you do we'll be watching!
Good Luck!

I agree with you, hybrids are cool but they turn into a real big headache/money pit. Yours and pualie's are probably the only ones I've seen work out and by far the nicest.

Now taking a yz426 or a crf and putting it in a 250r based lonestar frame thats made for the swap is a whole other kinda deal :)

Ima get the bike tommorow and if i get the motor ima take it apart and check the damage. Ill probably go big bore since ill have the motor already.

so i found 2 bikes in my price range ones a 83 yz490 and the other is an 86 yz250, im using the motor from either. what you guys think?

it'll be a ton easier/cheaper to do a big bore setup

but i'd probably do the yz250

well thats out the window, my buddy threw the motor away when it kept blowing. Yeah i just want some opinions but right now im set on the zy250 for the simple fact its liquid cooled around the same power, and more parts available, and i dont have to worry about destroying mounts, im most likely going to gusset the frame aswell. ima get pics soon.

250 imo... do they come with the wiring harness, carb, and pipe?

yeah the whole bike.

that blaster looks cool why dont u have a big bore or jet kit your got everything to make your quad look nice but nothing to make it fast..

not sure who that was directed towards, but if you think a jet kit will make your quad fast....or a big bore kit will do it on its own....you need to start doing some research

if you get 2 jet kits.....man....i dont even wanna think about how fast it would be....and with the new powerbands they got these days....dont even get me started....
