summer heat

i,m in florida i don't ride in the summer i just stored mine, now i have to wait till winter to ride again

so your saying its best not to ride in the summer. i think im going to try it and just let it cool every so often, maybe look into some air ducts or something. what would help it run a little cooler?

I have lived in florida my whole life and have never had a problem running my 2 strokes. My dad told me when i got my first dirtbike not to run around alot in 1st gear. You have to get a little wind in your fins after alot of low speed reving. Other than that I have never even thought about it that much and it easily reaches 95-100 degrees F were I live.

runnig rich is a good idea, what is too hot? when i had my 4 stroke i would put my hand close to the head and if i could feel the heat from about an inch away it was getting too hot. thats what someone told me though, is that a good way of telling if your getting too hot?

I have raced a blaster before in 100+ heat, with a built motor. ran 110 octane Trick fuel. if its jetted right and you are moving with airflowing around the motor, you should be good. If its a little on the rich side, with good octane and oil it will be fine. If a motor get too hot it will loose power, knock, ping etc.. but remember the piston temp is around 1050-1100 degrees if your a little rich. ambient temp. change of 20 degrees between 80 and 100 isnt that big of a deal as long as you set it up for it.

i live in southern az where it hits 110 and 115 sometimes. i have never had a problem with any of my air cooled bikes in this weather.
