i just bought the vitos +3mm stroker kit and once it comes i plan on throwing it in..but
could i potentially do harm to my motor if its stock with a stroker kit?
i only have a filter and the airbox lid removed, otherwise stock
whats the bare minimum requirements to safely run the stroker?

should i just buy a jet kit or would i need other stuff too?

thanks

to do this right, you should port the cylinder and have the head re designed to match. If your planning on taking this crank and using the spacer that comes with it ill be first to tell you, save your money..The 60mm cranks are perfect for the blaster engines, when you install this crank without a spacer plate you will see the transfer port floors are about perfect to the piston crown and the transfer timing becomes alot better.Using the spacerplate will only raise your transfer ports even higher (which isnt good for making power)and there will be no change in blow down.

As far as harming your engine, you will not by just throwing the crank in(buy yourself new mains and seals too),if there is a shop around you,you should take the crank and have it checked and trued, ive found alot of cranks that ive gotten have been off right out of the box,but my advice to you if you dont want to be disappointed have the cylinder and head re worked to match your crank shaft.

i have a topend ported by kennedy for the +3 vitos with about 10hrs on it.made 36hp on the dyno on pump gas.id sell cheap ive got a la sleeve 240 kit were working on with the stroker

well i know its not going to perfom amazing that wasnt my question..eventually i want to port match it and whatnot but for the time being i was gonna put it in and then at a later date port match..

Ur doing the steps im doing...but in reverse..lol Im putting the 240kit...then the stroker..the the port matching. I wanna attempt to put the stroker in myself but im not sure on what exactly to do. If/When you do the stroker..could you do a DIY on it pics and all?

im in the same boat, i wanna do it myself but i have no clue what im doing. i have the clymers manual so im gonna use that and hopefully make it happen

i woould recommend a pipe pretty soon too. esp if your port matching. thats a good mod to do tho. congrats on that....good luck on the build. clymers usually help. they are pretty descriptive.

if anybody wants a +3 crank, PM 370 or me he has one for sale.

it is not hard to put a stroker in..it just takes some patience and attention to detail (and a couple of specialty tools would help). even for the vito's kit you will need to use the spacer if you do not have your head machined for the stroker kit. i also think that you will want to check your rod clearance to make sure that it is not hitting the engine case as it will on some engines. below are some links to videos on how how it is done-- in general....

i hope that these help.

i've done quite a few stroker motor setups (not blasters).. and i've never seen the port floors in the right position at BDC when adding stroke.. unless of course the transfer port floors on a stock balster are 1.5mm lower than the crown.. which i know is not teh case.. and as for raisign teh trnsfer ports.. thats part of porting and einge and setting teh blowdown time.. so rainsign transfers is not always a bad thing.. but yes the spacer plate will lift the transfers ALOT.. too much actually.

actually the transfer floors are 1.5mm lower in the stock motor, the exhaust is the same way but not as much. Its almost like yamaha intended it to have a 60mm crank
check it out,the might not be exact 1.5mm lower but its within .2-.3mm

i was unaware of that.. it's been soo long since i looked at teh inside of a blaster that i really can't recall.. been doing mostly banshee stuff for a few years now.
