ok well today i was taking my stator cover off to paint. when i was taking it out the head of one of my screws got stripped.

the easiest way to fix a stripped screw it to get a small metal bit found at your local home depot or lowes. put it in a drill and slosly push the metal bit into the head of the stripped screw. once in turn the drill. dont put it in reverse that will only back the metal bit out. then as your turning the drill the stripped screw will turn out. Or hes an actual stripped screw removing kit. the bit i got only costed me $1.99

usually what I'll do first is make a flat head notch in the screw head and try a flat head on it . if no go then use a pair a vicegrips on the edges of the screw and try to spin it out , worse comes to worse use a easy out , generally a good soaking with penetrating oil first will eliminate or help alleviate problems , then replace it with a Hex head stainless steel fastener . and ONLY use a 6 sided socket on them , so you don't round those out

^^thats what i do with the flat head. i stripped my bolts as well but its alright cause i aint using that bottom end anymore

Best thing if you using a drill bit is to get a left handed bit so when you are drilling hopefully it will break it lose and turn it out. Also they make a tool, its basically a screw driver and you can hit it with a hammer and it will drive the bit into the bolt and turn it at the same time, they can work wonders as well.
