Stock jetting and what you're running?

So as you guys probably know I recently picked up two blasters. I have no idea on what the jetting is. I'm thinking the one I've been tooling around on is a little lean...and if I had to guess I'd say it's because it used to have the stock pipe but now it's got an FMF fatty.

I got a few questions here:
1) What are the stock main and pilot jets?

2) What is the best jet kit to get (one with a bunch of jets to mess with) and where do you get it?

3) What are people with similar setups (FMF Fatty, PC2, no airbox cover, etc.) running for jetting in the new england area?? 400-600 feet of base elevation, trails get up to 1,500 feet above sea level...although I'll soon be moving to lower land where 400 feet would probably be about tops.

stock main is 230, cant remember what the pilot is. For you set up it should be in the 260-290 range. Your stock pilot should be fine. Buy your jets individually at jetsrus or similar distributor. Much cheaper than a jet kit and you know what size jets your getting.

I live at 2500 feet and ride up to 4000 feet. I have the FMF Fatty and PC2, K&N filter and no airbox. I am runing a 250 main jet and a stock piolt jet. My blaster funs a little rich though. I didn't get a jet kit. I just bought the main jet from my local shop. Cost me $2.50

The stock set up should be a 230 main jet.

FMF also has a jetting center on their site. Check that out to figgure out what jet you need. FMF Racing - Technical Support

hope this helps

im in mass i have fatty pipe and pc2 and no airbox lid. i was running a 280 but was rich so i went down to a 260. its about right without changing the pilot jet. i just went to my local bike shop and asked for a couple jets 250, 260, 270, 280 and tested them all. i also have an aftermarket 28mm carb.

True, true...it's a two stroke....WTF does it need to idle for, right?!!! I'll leave the pilot as is. If jets are only $2.50/ea. I guess I'll just go get a handful of them and see what works best!!

Cirame1, what part of the state do you live in?? I live on the Leverett/Montague border, but I'm moving to Rehoboth at the end of the month for work, which is in the SE part of the state. I have a feeling the 260 may be the ticket for me too....but I'll get a few others just in case.

One last thing....with my dirt bikes I never really rode them in the winter so I didn't worry about changing the jetting for the winter, and I have seen guys blow up 2 strokes in the snow because they didn't re-jet. I'm going to be dialing in two or three weekends from now (after the move) so at best I'll be doing so in 40 degree weather...maybe 50? I guess that should be fine if I feel like riding when it's colder, but what I'm getting at is how many degrees F, or C change should I worry about before re-jetting?? I'm sure what works at 40 F isn't going to be ideal in the summer time!! Thanx again for all the help, you guys are great!

i never knew you had to rejet for winter i ripped around the streets pissing cops off all winter last winter in huge snow storms but i didnt have any aftermarket parts then but i live up the north shore near nh. i been messing with my jets and carb for a while though literatly like 3 months i did all the aftermarket work but i never ever drive it so ill take it out and piss my neighbors off random times and mess with the carb. i think i got it right now though with the 260 jet. i tried with the needle clip position but cant find it for the life of me. its running ok ill take it out prob over the weekend and do a plug test and see where its at. but also wat r ppl running for gas i hear that 93 octane isnt good for a stock pistoned motor. i hear 87 is more than plenty and possibly lose performance on 93?

I brought my Blaster down to 5000 feet elevation from about 8600ft, run in temps from 20F to 90F and found it was running a 190 jet. I put a 230 in it but it didn't really do anything.
..Except now my piston is shattered but I think that's cuz of me :)
