What is the correct procedure for removing the stock carb cap on a 2004 Blaster? Obviously it will ultimately screw off counterclockwise but there is a cutaway on the carb body itself with what appears to be some sort of locking tab that has me a little stumped as of the moment. That is a new one for me and completely different that my MX bikes and I don't want to damage it. Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated.

No, that is not the tab to which I am refering. I removed that already. There is a flat spot on the front of the neck of the carb which screws into the cap, there is some small flat tab-like protrusion just underneath the cap in the front that seems to lock the cap from spinning off and there doesn't seem to be any obvious way of moving it, freeing it up or moving it.

i think i remember what you're talking about, just align that internal tab with the flat spot of the carb threads and gently get the threads started
it's nothing to overthink

Having problems getting my picture on the reply. LOL. Not familiar with the URL link for a pic from my computer. Won't let me browse and upload.

it's the base of the tors unit that sticks down in, that tab keeps the tors unit aligned straight while tightening the cap
