Do a compression test?

put some gas into the spark plug hole and see if it will start up. if it will start then it's a fuel problem like clogged carb/fuel filter/clogged gas tank petcock. if it won't start then you have to check spark. if weak or no spark then it's an electrical problem..if spark is good then possibly air/filter clogged or mechanical/motor problems like piston/compression etc.

i just talked to one of the dealers around here and they said if my reeds were bent like they were i prolly need a new top end????

right.. if reeds are on correct (check incase as i thought i screwed mine on good and they just came off lol) might have flooded so take of spark plug and kick 3-4 times, and make sure spark plug is ok and its the right one (br8es) mines backfired wen needed new olug and also wen reeds went

if its got comp its not topend

although when my top end went a bit off reeds got into engine and even though i had comp it needed topend rebuild

Have you checked to make sure you are getting a good spark?

Try using a spark tester to see if you are getting a spark at all. If not, unscrew the spark plug cap from the lead and hold the end of the wire about 6 mm from a bolt on the cylinder head. Have someone try to kick start it and see if a spark jumps to the bolt. If so, the spark plug cap is bad. If there is no spark, it could be the main switch, the engine stop switch, the ignition coil or stator coil, the ignition wiring harness...and if all that checks out, it's probably the CDI unit.

Will the engine turn over at all?

All this is coming from the Clymer manual.

the spark plug is the right one and is brand new we r gonna do a comp test tonight and see what it says who much psi should it be. yes i have spark. the thing just will not crank doesnt even really try to

chances are it wasnt jetted right, and you may have smoked the top end... buddys dirt bike did that, came off the lake onto the river.. 3-4-5- than buuuuuuuuuu bu bu buuuuuuu died
bout what mine did i just got the thing so it prolly wasnt jetted right since ive got it all ive done is work on it but if the top ends fried i guess i might as well go ahead and build it up any suggestions
